Bruna Kalil Othero (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1995)

is a Brazilian writer, performer, translator, lecturer & researcher. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Portuguese at Indiana University (USA). She has a Master’s degree in Brazilian literature (UFMG — Brazil), researching Hilda Hilst’s erotic-pornographic literature, and a bachelor’s degree in the same institution. Author of the poetry books Oswald pede a Tarsila que lave suas cuecas (2019, awarded by Brazilian Ministry of Culture), Anticorpo (2017), Poétiquase (2015), and the fiction artist book Carne (2019). She organized the collections A Porca Revolucionária: ensaios literários sobre a obra de Hilda Hilst (2018), and Poéticas do devir-mulher: ensaios sobre escritoras brasileiras (with Constância Lima Duarte and André Magri, 2019). Her unpublished book Tinha um Pedro no meio do caminho was awarded by the Brazilian Special Secretary of Culture (2019) and her poem “dead woman” was chosen as the best text of the 2022 edition of CANVAS Magazine. Her first translated book, Oswald le pide a Tarsila que le lave los calzones (translated by Paula Abramo) is about to be released in Mexico. In 2023, she releases her first novel, O presidente pornô, with the publisher Companhia das Letras. At the moment, she is working on the biography of Hilda Hilst for the same publisher, to be released in 2026.
